Moving soil near Laguna Honda Pond

Dear neighbors,

Thank you for your comments on the equipment and pile of soil located near the old Laguna Honda Reservoir. This SFPUC property is used as a staging area by the contractor for the Forest Knolls pump station project. We have instructed the contractor to clear out the dirt pile by mid-April as they will no longer need the soil after that. However, the equipment currently used for the pump station project will remain until late July 2009.

  1. It's looking much better, thanks! The pile of dirt that was parallel to Clarendon was used to create a gentle slope from the fence line down into the Laguna Honda staging area. This looks great!

We're looking forward to seeing the other pile reshaped as well! Keep up the good work.

One request: Please be sure the contractor remembers to dispose of the plastic sheets that covered the dirt piles. They have been pushed off to the side along the Eastern property line. They will easily get lost in the thick ivy.

    Thanks!

  2. Thank you for your comments on the dirt pile next to the old Laguna Honda Reservoir. It should be cleared out before the end of the month. We have instructed the contractor to secure the plastic cover sheets, and to dispose (or reuse) them properly after the dirt pile has been removed.

We are glad you found this new blog useful, please share it with your neighbors. Looking forward to receiving more of your valuable comments or suggestions.

  4. On a different but related topic. Can SFwater please explain what is going on with all the new bee hive boxes along the back of the Laguna Honda Reservoir? What is the purpose and plan for these? Thanks

  7. Speaking to our water operations folks, they tell me that the contractor will remove the trailer, truck and other construction related equipments from the site by early next week. They do not anticipate other contractors using this area for construction related activity, but our Water department crews may use this site for facility maintenance and periodic staging when they do projects across town in the Sunset or Richmond areas.

  8. So the "and then the area will be restored." was not true?

  9. There are no current plans for the area to be used so the natural habitat should return this rainy season. Generally, the water operations crews use the fenced off area to the left of the gate that is covered with vines.

  10. Still looks like a dump with a porta pottie. Empty promises as usual.

  11. Thank you for your comment. We are exploring options for relocating the portable toilet and will update you soon. To improve our drinking water system, our water operations crew needs to use this site for facility maintenance and temporary equipment storage. Thank you.
